UI/UX Case Study
Making Connections App

Concept to Appstore

One-week quick turnaround

conference mobile app

I was hired to concept, design and code a mobile application for a conference that was being put on by Merck. The catch, we only had one week in which to do it before needing to submit to the Appstore and a very limited budget. Not being one to turn away from a challenge, I immediately started to envision myself as a participant at the conference in order to design the best functionality and user interface we could.

The client requested that we develop a QR scanning application to scan name badges for participants. We also devised a solution to "gamify" and reward participants for visiting vendor booths also using the QR code capabilities. We incorporated Sli.do, a audience engagement tool into the application as well as the week's agenda, contact information, participant information, and photos of the event delivered as it was happening.

I designed and built this application for iOS and Android. During the design process I had to account for all the information that needed to be constantly updated live, so I utilized my skills as a web developer to deliver some of the content in the app over the web but inside of the app itself. This creative approach allowed us to deliver live content easier and allowed us to meet our deadline to deliver the app on time.
